The Unexpected Gifts Of Failure

Original Air Date: June 14, 2021

Failure.

A complete sentence.

Is it a teacher

Or a jailer?

Is it a beginning

Or does it end there?

Where do you place your next step

When the ground beneath you begins to erupt?

Maybe if there was something to grasp,

If it wasn’t so abrupt.

Perhaps if no one was watching,

Not even me seeing me.

 Then this…

Failure

Would be easier to swallow.

If self-criticism were a competition,

I’d be a tough act to follow.

Perfection.

Maybe it can serve as my protection.

From any and all

Ridicule

And rejection

And failure.

There is fog on the glass of my reflection.

I find the courage to wipe it,

I shine back clearer.

I need to reexamine my definition.

A life without failure

Actually sounds

Kind of boring.

Where would be the discovery?

The intrigue?

The lessons learned from walking through the fire

And getting just a bit burnt.

Realizing the nightmare scenes

Are actually just branches of trees

Scratching at my window.

Scary shadows revealed to be nothing.

But it’s the confronting.

The facing.

The tasting the fear on your tongue

And rather than deciding to run...

Moving forward.

Moving toward that which I find to be frightening.

Failure.

It can be a beautiful teacher.

Not gentle.

But honest.

Failure.

Unexpected gifts found within if I’m willing to persist.

To insist:

I know. I know.

There is danger waiting.

But I’d rather lose it all

Than die knowing

I never even tried.

I had all of these ideas

And just kept them shut inside.

We get to decide when failure is an ending.

A complete sentence.

A teacher or

A jailer.

And when failure

Is actually the greatest of all treasures.

P.S. I hope you enjoy this week’s episode: ‘The Unexpected Gifts Of Failure.’

Go With the Fear & Grow With Dijana Llugolli

Original Air Date: October 14, 2020

It is vital to cultivate a healthy relationship with fear and failure.

Yeah.

I know.

Easier said than done.

In order to live this truth, I have to recommit to it every single day.

Because every single day fear makes itself known.

I feel it as a tight knot in my stomach.

Tension in my shoulders.

I recognize it in my defensiveness.

When I’m short with people.

I see it clearly during the times where I would rather be right than happy.

Where I fight for my limiting beliefs.

Fear would have me clutch the painful familiar rather than embrace the liberating unknown.

I have learned it isn’t possible to get rid of fear.

Or to vision board it away.

Instead, I must accept it as part of my present experience.

Without resistance.

Without fighting it.

Just observe it.

And little by little, its grip releases.

A huge factor in this journey is being conscious of the voices I let into my head.

I want to be really intentional that I am ingesting words and energy that contribute to a growth mindset.

That is why I am so intentional of the guests I share with you each week on T.H.E. Celebration.

On that note, this week's guest, Dijana Llugolli, is a rock star when it comes to fear and growth.

Diana Dijana Llugolli is a leading success and business coach in Scandinavia with a client base in 23 different countries. Her story as an online marketer, coach, and speaker started in March 2018, when she burned out, nearly divorced, and, on the verge of giving up, decided to make a pivotal change in her business.

After that rock bottom, she became obsessed with working smarter rather than harder, and she is now the go-to expert for female entrepreneurs who are ready to make more impact, influence, and income.

Her genius lies in her knowledge of automation, systems, and funnels – and now, she is on a mission to support a million women to be, do, and have whatever they desire. To live their version of a Freedom Lifestyle.

I had so many “aha!”s while recording this episode, and I’ve been really excited for its release!

At the root of our goals, our intentions, and our visions is our mindset.

This conversation with Dijana is going to serve you in such a big way.

So take a deep breath.

Exhale.

And then hit play.

Let’s do this.

3 Stories of Failing and Getting Back Up

Today I’m sharing 3 very personal stories where I failed, big time.

I mean, these weren’t those “Oops, I used salt instead of sugar” kind of failures.

They were “Down on the ground, will I get up from this?” total failures.

Talking to you about these life stories and processing them again… allowed me to uncover the meaning and the hidden gems I couldn’t see while I was going through it.

Thank you for letting me share the experience with you.

If you’re experiencing failure, setbacks, roadblocks… I hope you’ll gain something from these stories I’m sharing in this week’s episode.

[This is where I’m supposed to insert a cliche quote about how “it gets better” or “it is all worth it.” but I can’t because in the end, failure is always a punch to the gut.]

Unfortunately:

The more risks you take…

The bolder you live…

The more you put yourself out there…

The more often you’ll get that failure gut punch.

I don’t know if it necessarily gets better or easier, but I’m working on learning more and more how to react in the seconds after the failure hits me.

Maybe it’ll help you get stronger reaction muscles too.

Let’s do this.

Hit play. ▶️

An Interview With My Dad

I have been reflecting upon fatherhood ever since… you know… becoming a father. So I knew this would have to be one of the replays I dusted off and brought back to life.

In May of 2017, I had the opportunity to sit down with my dad for an interview. It’s an episode I treasure and hold dear.

As a result, it is my honor to share it with you this week.

Here’s the original writeup:

I'm so excited that my dad, Tom Earl Sr., joined me for an interview this week!  My dad and I have a special relationship that I am so grateful for.  Not only is he my dad, but he is also my friend, my mentor, an inspiration, and one of my heroes.

My dad is super humble, so let me brag for a second: he's a self-taught artist and landscape architect, a Vietnam veteran, he raised my oldest sister as a single dad, he started his own business back before it was cool to be an entrepreneur, and he's my dad :).

It took me over a year to convince my dad to do this interview.  And it was well worth the wait.

On this week's episode: My dad shares some cool stories about my childhood and what it's like to be my dad. We also talked about his own personal life journey. Dad imparted some great knowledge about life, entrepreneurship, being unafraid of failure, following passions, and never giving up.

Check out this very personal conversation between my dad and I!

Empowering Practices

I want to thank you all so much for going all the way through our “Manifesting Your Adventure” series. If you are just catching this episode now, I want to encourage you to go all the way back and listen to this all the way through. We began the series on March 9th and I hope you’ll get a lot of value from journeying with us through each of the first 6 parts of the journey before today’s focus on empowering practices.

On this last day of our series, we want to make sure that this isn’t a “set it and forget it” type thing for you...like one of those situations where you create a vision board and then you never listen to it again. Nothing like that here!

We want to make sure that this is a continual process of checking in and empowering yourself as you are heading towards your next adventure in life. And most importantly, that you are nurturing your mindset and your relationships and the processes that will continue to move you forward towards whatever your next adventure is.

This episode will finalize and complete the 7-episode series. Thank you so much for being a part of it.

Fam, make sure to go back to the last 6 episodes before you go through this one. If you’d like to go through the rest of the program, I’m giving you the gift of 30 days free of T.H.E. Celebration Academy membership. As a member, you receive access to all of our classes and are able to participate in the monthly live workshop that is exclusively for members.

Abundance Beliefs

Thank you for joining me for another week of our “Manifesting Your Adventure” series. I hope that you and your family are staying safe, healthy and sane in this unprecedented time of introspection and uncertainty.

I’d love you to get the most value out of this episode, and before you tune into this episode, if you haven’t already heard the previous 5 weeks’ episodes, it will give you a better context. We began the series on March 9th and I hope you’ll get a lot of peace from journeying with us through each of the first 5 parts of the journey before today’s focus on abundance.

On this episode, we are focusing on your mindset. To this point in our series, you have worked on many important things. In the training, we have talked about setting goals; we have identified what your ideal day feels like, we talked about forming a more positive relationship with failure and we took a closer look at what your success looks like.

We want your mindset and your belief systems to work towards your benefit, both consciously and subconsciously. The activities in the workshop we are going through today are going to set that foundation for you.

Fam, make sure to go back to the last 5 episodes before you go through this one. If you’d like to go through the rest of the 7-day program, I’m giving you the gift of 30 days free of T.H.E. Celebration Academy membership. As a member, you receive access to all of our classes and are able to participate in the monthly live workshop that is exclusively for members.

Celebrating Failure

On this week’s episode, we explore ways through which we can celebrate failure. When we are taking risks, envisioning, creating change, and putting ourselves out there, creating a healthy relationship with failure is really important. When we try something new or strive to live our best life, we are inevitably setting ourselves up to experience moments where we stumble or fall short, and the mindset we have in those moments will influence how we move forward.

This week’s episode is a workshop that walks us through how we can create a healthy relationship with failure. Together, we break down what we have been taught failure means, and then create our own fresh definition.

Celebrate Failure is Day 5 of a 7-day workshop series that I have created.

If you’d like to participate in workshops like this one and receive the full 7-day series, you can become an Inner-Power Member.
